Accountability for Killer Cops. Demand Justice For All Stolen Lives!

We aren’t going to go on like everything is okay and it’s business as usual anymore.

Police in Brooklyn Center, MN shot and killed a beautiful young father, Daunte Wright, during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon April 11th, 2021. For those of you who are not from the Twin Cities area, Brooklyn Center is a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis, a racially diverse city of 30,000 residents.

Our cities’ Black, Brown and Native men have been under attack by law enforcement for decades and the trauma to our community has been suffocating and without relief. Since the year 2000 there have been over 400 deaths due to police brutality in MN.

After George Floyd’s public lynching in May of last year, there was an outpouring of condolences from everywhere in the world. There were promises for change locally- especially from our city and state’s progressive residents and lawmakers- but as of yet NOTHING HAS CHANGED in terms of policing or racism in Minnesota.

Even with the world’s eyes on the Twin Cities, as we enter the third week of the Chauvin trial, the police carry on serially brutalizing and violating Black, Brown and Native people as a matter of routine.

We need your help.

Please join Smitten Kitten as we send all of our condolences, good thoughts and prayers up for Daunte Wright’s precious toddler and the rest of his family, friends and community.

Please keep ALL of the other Justice Families, those whose loved ones have been killed by police in Minnesota, in your thoughts too. These families are re-traumatized each time another person is murdered at the hands of law enforcement.

Lift up the Twin Cities’ Black community, for whom this hits especially hard, in your heart and TAKE ACTION.
